FAQs

We pride ourselves on our attention to detail. We make sure you have everything you need for a perfect experience, from a warm welcome to your own apron to use and take home.

Before you embark on a recipe you’ll find all the ingredients weighed out, and the equipment you need, waiting for you at your individual workstation. So all you have to do is focus on the cooking.

Our classes are small – no more than 12 students – and informal. We deliver inspiring, but achievable results. You’ll be kept on your toes, but not overwhelmed.

What should I wear?

Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes as you will be on your feet for much of the day.

Do I need to bring anything?

No. We provide everything you need for your day's cooking.

How many people will be on the course with me?

There are never more than 12 students per class. Each student is provided with their own workbench, equipment and ingredients. Besides your chef-teacher, there will always be two assistants on hand.

Who will teach my course?

This depends on the class you have selected. Please refer to the classes pages on our website. Or, follow the links to read more about our teaching team and staff.

Will Michel Roux Jr teach my course?

Michel himself will be your teacher on the Michel Roux Jr Premier Experience, and you will cook and interact with him throughout the day. All our other classes are taught by our Roux-trained or in-house chefs. Read more about the teaching team here.

Do you offer classes in essential cooking skills?

Yes. Our knife skills, bread, pastry, and stocks and sauces classes are all great ways to learn essential culinary skills. If you have suggestions for other classes you would like to see, please get in touch.

What level of skill do I need to attend a course?

Whilst most of our guests are enthusiastic amateur chefs, we cater to all skill levels from absolute beginners to aspiring professionals.

Do you offer vegetarian cooking classes?

If you are a vegetarian, please do not be deterred from booking a class with us. Let us know in advance and we will adapt the day’s menu to accommodate you.

Are you able to cater to my dietary requirements (Halal, vegetarian, allergies, etc.)?

Yes. Please let us know in advance and we will happily adapt our menus to suit your requirements.

May I take photographs during the class?

Yes. Please share them with us afterwards on Facebook, Twitter or TripAdvisor - we'd love to see them!

May I purchase gift vouchers?

Yes. Our cookery courses make a practical and original wedding or anniversary gift or birthday present. Please visit our vouchers page for more information. Let us know in advance if you or your guest are attending on a birthday or anniversary so we can mark the occasion.

Do you have a newsletter?

Yes. Subscribe to our Rouxletter here to receive news, recipes and offers.

What are the nearest train stations?

Clapham Common, Clapham North (Northern Line); Clapham High Street (Overground); Clapham Junction (National Rail).

Do buses stop nearby?

Yes. Numbers 88, 322, 50, 155 and 345 stop at St Luke's Avenue. Numbers 35 and 37 (from Clapham Junction) stop nearby.

Is there car parking available?

There is no car parking on site. Some metered street parking is available for up to 4 hours. If you do choose to drive, we suggest you use JustPark to reserve a space. As wine is served during the day, we recommend guests use public transport.

Is there disabled access

Regrettably, no. Due to our setting in an old building access to the cookery school is limited and via a flight of narrow stairs. There are no lifts.
